When we say ‘increase website ranking on Google‘, we are in effect saying increase website ranking in the search engines. By some estimates, Google is responsible for driving 70% of all web traffic. In that respect, Google IS the search engines because of the vast amounts of traffic that Google produces.
Most other search engines seem to mirror the results of Google. But the payoff is huge because the economic value of having top position or even being first page position on Google can have an instant and immediate impact on a company’s success.
The formula for the process remains the same:
- Do great keyword research – Keywords are the heart and soul of your online business. These words define who you are and they become the basis for the whole SEO strategy. There are so many decisions that go into which keywords to select – how competitive are the kleyword terms, how much organic search traffic do they produce, are the terms conducive to supporting your brand and corporate image, are the terms something that can be used in support of your SEO marketing strategy, and much more. Choose these keywords wisely and half the SEO battle is won.
- Be prepared to write a lot of content – The search engines love keyword relevant content and if you really want to increase website ranking on Google you better be ready to write content. This includes on site content for your website or blog and off site content in a variety of places where you can post content – article directories, social bookmarking sites, etc. – in support of your main business website, which leads to …
- Build SEO backlinks back to your website – This is the secret sauce of SEO and one that many companies do not spend enough time on completing. Backlinks are very simple – it is the process of using your targeted keywords as ‘anchor text’ with a hyperlink back to the page that you want to promote for that keyword. You cannot possibly build enough back links and the good news is that backlinks are naturally done by doing the off page content as described above.
So the process is simple – pick your keywords, write a lot of keyword relevant content and then create back links to your website with your targeted keywords as the anchor text.
