SEO Competitive Analysis

Making the initial list of targeted keywords is only the first step our SEO process. Once you have identified some good keywords to consider based on high level competition factors, we will then need to consider what it will take to attain the top search engine position to get targeted traffic. The following is only one example of the type of SEO competitive analysis that we perform.

For example, let’s examine a detailed competitive analysis for three possible keywords – dog training, dog training books and dog training Charlotte (you can click on the images for a larger view).

The data that we are are examining here includes the following:

  1. The rank position the keyword
  2. The URL (or website) that has that particular position
  3. Off page SEO factors (domain age, page rank, indexed pages and backlinks)
  4. On page SEO factors (meta tags, etc.)

The most important factors of keyword competitive analysis are the columns from DA -> BLD. Generally speaking the more red cells in this area the more difficult it will be to get high page ranking.
